Job Details

Are you an experienced litigation lawyer looking for the next step in your career? The Crown Prosecution Service is recruiting specialist prosecutors to join our proceeds of crime division.

About the Crown Prosecution Service
At the Crown Prosecution Service, we are responsible for delivering justice through the independent and effective prosecution of crime. As the principal prosecuting authority across England and Wales, we employ over 7,000 people who think objectively, act professionally, show the upmost respect for others and continually strive for excellence.

We work with criminal justice partners and other agencies to meet the government’s aim of substantially reducing levels of serious and organised crime. This work is supported by specialist prosecutors dedicated to asset recovery within our proceeds of crime division.

About the role
As a specialist prosecutor, you work with criminal justice partners in the UK and internationally to confiscate money and assets obtained through crime. Your expertise helps us to disrupt offending and prevent ill-gotten gains from being reinvested into further criminal activity.

You are responsible for asset recovery litigation in the most complex and sensitive cases, advising the police and other agencies on money laundering investigations and prosecutions. You conduct cases in enforcement courts, and support advocates in asset recovery hearings by drafting legal applications and arguments.

Your work makes a real difference to society and the communities we serve, ensuring proceeds of crime are recovered and reinvested into tackling offending and compensating victims of crime.

About you
We’re looking for qualified barristers and solicitors with extensive knowledge of criminal or civil litigation in the higher courts. You must have a breadth of exposure to complex cases, including managing contested casework and litigation with multiple parties. You have experience conducting complex factual and legal analysis, and you’re confident dealing with expert evidence and voluminous numerical data.

Legal experience in proceeds of crime and serious criminal casework is desirable. Experience of drafting briefings, delivering presentations and training is also beneficial.

About our benefits
At the CPS we pride ourselves on providing benefits that ensure our employees’ needs are central. We want to ensure you can thrive at work and home, offering support to achieve a balance. This includes flexible working hours, flexibility to support caring responsibilities and a family friendly approach to work. We also offer a range of benefits including:
