Data Protection & Compliance Officer
Full time, permanent employment, based central Reading, Berkshire
FTE Salary £35-45,000 pa plus benefits

In this new role you will use your compliance and data protection expertise to the maximum. We are a data-rich institution and in the main you will:
- Provide central information governance services, guidance and expert advice to stakeholders across UCEM.
- Undertake a gap analysis on data protection compliance and then help UCEM develop appropriate systems and processes to both ensure compliance and good practice standards.
- Secure UCEM’s compliance with the statutory institutional obligations (data protection, safeguarding, Prevent).
- Help improve our records management functions, including managing our retention schedule, asset database, and relevant website pages.
- Deliver awareness and training sessions for staff on information governance, and produce relevant communications to both staff and students.
As mentioned, we need an expert. You must have relevant academic or professional qualifications and be keen to continue to develop your knowledge. Through your work experience you must be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of information governance, data protection, and records management. Other key skills include: strong all-round communication skills, project management, relationships with stakeholders, IT skills, analysis of complex data, initiative, and a commitment to deliver excellence in this role.
