Professional Ethics and Compliance Manager – Business Services Department, Ref: PE&CM/BS/FMS/MAR17

                                                                                                             

Leigh Day an award winning, specialist law firm is seeking to hire a Professional Ethics and Compliance Manager within its Business Services Department.

The successful candidate will assist the Managing Partner and Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (CoLP). S/he will be working closely with the Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (CoFA), to ensure the Firm complies with professional ethics and compliance as required by the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority (SRA). S/he will implement and comply with the Firm’s risk assessment, risk review and file review systems and assist with monitoring, reviewing and managing risks. Responsibilities will include assisting with basic regulatory requirements, reviewing and reporting on changes to solicitors’ professional ethics and researching and providing feedback to staff on day-to-day compliance issues. S/he will act as secretary to the Compliance Committee and liaise with the Committee Chair, assist with the delivery of training, maintain accurate records and analyse data related to compliance.

The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in compliance and dealing with regulatory issues. S/he must have previous experience of working with Outcomes-focused Regulation (OFR) and Solicitor Account Rules SAR within a law firm and a demonstrable understanding of issues around legal compliance and professional ethics. It will ideally suit a candidate who has an excellent attention to detail and is able to demonstrate initiative, flexibility, ownership and responsibility.
