Our client is a Legal 500 rated commercial firm with a real presence in the East Midlands and 100% commitment to the region. Its clients include an interesting mix of large regional businesses, plcs, and also HNW individuals and these are both within the region but also further afield in the UK and with interests in London. It is an entrepreneurial practice with a colleagiate culture, a dynamic and compact management team, and is well resourced in terms of city centre premises and support facilities.

The firm has expanded steadily in recent years, and frequently has made lateral appointments in order to better define more niche legal practice areas, or to add firepower to existing units. They are now looking to make a key appointment of a Banking Law expert who will take responsiblity for promoting banking and finance services to the existing client base, and take a lead in growing this specific offering as part of the business services group. This firm is on the panel for a number of lenders and so gets involved in a range of transactional lending work on the corporate side. They also handle a substantial amount of property finance work off the back of their real estate department so again that represents a strong flow of work to capitalise upon.

This firm does already have work flowing, they do have junior assistant solicitors available for your support, and they do know that there is more work available from their existing client base. Consequently this represents a truly unique opportunity as a client following is not needed, rather they need the right person who is ready to take a strategic lead in this specialist field.

First and foremost a suitable candidate will need to be fully capable technically and able to operate without supervision, so 5yrsPQE+ is likely a logical benchmark for the level of experience necessary. Secondly they will need the competence and confidence to network with autonomy, to befriend the firms existing clients, to cross sell, and to generate work. Most likely you will be a frustrated Associate or a Parner in a commercial firm and will be looking for this type of exposure and professional challenge. This firm has a good track record of recruiting from top 100 brands and so hopefully you will be coming from such a respected practice background.

This role brings with it a clear (and uncontested) track to partnership if not immediate partnership on arrival for the right candidate. The firm has a dynamic management team who can engage with lateral hires easily and we'd expect their culture to be endearing to anyone from a large national brand who is looking for more of a regional focus accompanied by longterm equity prospects. An exciting career opportunity for a proven commercial lawyer with a commitment to the East Midlands.
Florit Brooke advertisements use PQE levels purely as a guide to the level of experience required for the role and this does not prohibit applications from candidates who are able to demonstrate the necessary skills and experience. We aim to respond to enquiries as soon as possible but if we have not contacted you within 5 days then unfortunately on this occasion your application has not quite met the requirements of our client closely enough.
