About the roles

We are seeking a Contracts/Procurement Solicitor and a Property Solicitor to join our talented legal team.  These roles will support the Strategic Lead (Governance & Licensing) to provide an efficient and effective Legal Service which protects the Council’s interests, enables modern service delivery and reacts flexibly to provide a service tailored to client needs.  In these interesting and varied roles, you’ll provide legal advice to council officers, committees and outside bodies, primarily in the fields of property law and contract/procurement work.  You’ll also advise upon, draft, negotiate and complete legal documents including contracts, tenders, development agreements, joint venture agreements and property transfers.

About you

You’ll be a qualified Solicitor and have up to date knowledge of property law or contract/procurement law as well as experience of preparing legal documentation.  Knowledge of Property Litigation, Housing and/or Administrative law would be an advantage.  You’ll be a confident communicator with excellent negotiation skills and the ability to solve problems in a pragmatic and timely way.  You must also be able to work co-operatively and supportively as part of a professional team and be able to manage conflicting priorities to deadlines.

East Devon District Council has decided to relocate away from its current headquarters in Sidmouth.  Some staff will relocate to Exmouth during the latter part of 2017 and others to Honiton towards the end of 2018.
