These roles are part of Ofgem’s Networks Division, which is responsible for managing over £80bn of investment in gas and electricity networks over the next ten years. Specifically, you will offer expert legal advice to support tenders and transactions involved in the appointment of offshore transmission owners bidding to own and operate c£2bn worth of transmission infrastructure to connect offshore wind farms to the grid. These are highly involved roles that will involve advising on extensive and varied issues, in both public and private law. You can expect to play a key part in the tender process, including the preparation of tender documents, evaluation and supporting the process to financial close and grant of the offshore transmission licence. You may also advise on monitoring and compliance matters in respect of existing offshore transmission owners.
You should be a Barrister or Solicitor, qualified to practice in England & Wales, who can offer highly developed skills in analysis, use of evidence and sound legal judgement. Previous experience of advising on infrastructure projects, project finance or large commercial transactions is essential and you should also be able to demonstrate a pragmatic approach to resolving legal issues and an interest in the energy sector.
