As part of the Commercial team you will work closely with Principal Solicitor and Head of Law as part of a busy team of lawyers to provide strategic and commercially focused legal advice to the Council in relation to a broad range of procurement, contract, governance and commercial matters. Areas of work include works, services and goods contracts, consultation advice, ICT and Social Care contractual matters, State Aid and grant funding. Working closely with client departments the legal team ensures delivery of a high quality legal service which supports, advises and assist the Council in undertaking its broad and varying range of functions and transactions. The post offers a highly diverse caseload, the opportunity for advising at a strategic level and to be part of exciting projects within the city as it continues its impressive growth and development.
Requirements of the post:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive entitled to practise;
- Recent in depth knowledge and post qualification of commercial and contract (including public procurement) law, practice and procedure at an advanced level;
- Demonstrates a problem solving approach to meet the client’s needs;
- Demonstrable skills in giving clear, accurate and timely advice orally and in writing;
- Demonstrable skills and strengths in negotiation, drafting, giving advice, persuading and influencing;
- The skills to confidently lead and advise at internal and external meetings in relation to contract matters and corporate projects.
