Salary: £61,240 rising to £66,240 following satisfactory confirmation in post after 12 months

Location: Flexible (regular presence in London will be required)

Cafcass supports over 125,000 children and families each and every year, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, putting their needs, wishes and feelings first and ensuring their voice is heard at the heart of family court proceedings.

Our Legal Services Team play a key role in supporting the organisation and our staff to manage potentially complex, sensitive legal situations. We are looking to supplement this busy, unique and highly specialised team by recruiting for up to two Lawyers.

The role for successful applicants will include:

•                Giving advice to practitioners when covering the duty line.

•                Delivering training for practitioners.

•                Providing legal updates on Cafcass and legislation.

•                Represent Cafcass Guardians in High Court Team.

•                Acting as Advocate to the Court.

•                Representing Guardians who are separate from child.

•                Providing Legal Advice to Cafcass as an organisation.

To be considered for this role - which is a fantastic opportunity for a Lawyer wishing to gain exposure to a wide variety of challenging cases involving children in High Court proceedings - applicants will need to have:

•                3+ years PQE Solicitor or a Barrister with 3 years’ call

As a promoter of flexible working, the successful candidate may not be required to be office-based all of the time but will need to attend our National Office in London (Bloomsbury) on a regular basis as well as hearings in London and beyond.
