Senior Litigation Solicitor

Venn Group's specialist public sector legal team are excited to be recruiting for a Senior Litigation Solicitor to join a busy Local Authority in the Northern Home Counties, easily commutable from London.

This role is likely to run for an initial period of 3-6 months with a possibility of further extension and they are ideally looking for someone on a full time basis.

The successful candidate will be a Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with substantial experience dealing with litigation and prosecutions matters, ideally gained within the public sector.

The main duties expected to be carried out in this role are detailed below:

• Giving legal advice, often in relation to highly complex matters and providing reports to the Executive, Officers and Members of the authority to enable decisions to be taken and implemented in accordance with the law
• Representing the authority before Courts and Tribunals as an unsupervised advocate, conducting cases in a way that complies with current practice and protocols
• Carrying out, with a minimum of supervision, a wide range of other legal work as required, including the drafting of any necessary documents
• Exercise judgement, as to whether specialist legal advice and/or assistance is required and instruct external Counsel when necessary
• Participating in projects relating to corporate, interdivisional or interdepartmental work

A rate of £30 - 40 per hour dependant upon experience will be considered.
