Deputy Monitoring Officer

Our client a renowned Local Authority based in the Home Counties requires a Deputy Monitoring Officer to lead the Litigation Team on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be hard-working, experienced and motivated and will be able to demonstrate a previous track record in managing and leading an established Litigation Team. The role requires the successful candidate to assist in the provision of a comprehensive legal service to the Council, it’s Executive, its Committees and Sub Committees.

As the Deputy Monitoring Officer you will need to provide operational and strategic vision, strong leadership and support to staff and be accountable within Legal Services for the effective delivery of litigation, employment, procurement, education, housing and governance matters.

In order to be considered for the position it is essential that you fulfil the following requirements:

•                  Experience of Litigation and Advocacy before Courts and/or Tribunals

•                  Demonstrable experience of managing professional staff

•                  Strong experience and knowledge of local government law and practice

•                  Significant stakeholder and client management experience

It is imperative that you have previous experience within this area of law as you will be expected to manage a team from the outset with very little lead in time.

Excellent client care skills and the ability to work autonomously are essential for this role. Previous public sector experience would be advantageous but not essential.
