THE COMPANY

A major international financial services business.

THE ROLE

A Commercial Legal Counsel fluent in English and Russian is now sought for a three month contract.

Reporting to the Director of Legal (EMEA and APAC) the role will involve supporting the development of the Group's business activities in emerging markets

This is a visible role with regular interaction with business people and management. There is a genuine global dimension to the remit as well as substantial autonomy and responsibility. The environment is fast paced and the customer base very demanding, therefore the role requires a person who is able to deal with pressure, can commit to deadlines and work at a good pace.

The primary focus of the role is a project to increase the number of customers using the Group's electronic trading systems in emerging markets (principally in Russia).

This is a short-term role, anticipated to last three months. Whilst the role will be based in London, some travel to Russia may be involved.

Key responsibilities:

Reviewing, drafting, negotiating and providing legal advice on electronic services agreements with Russian-based customers.

If capacity allows, the role may involve providing legal advice on other business issues. Agreements in this context may include introducing brokerage agreements, commission sharing and netting agreements, terms of business, confidentiality agreements, intra group agreements, bank guarantees, clearing, custody and collateral agreements and marketing agreements.

ABOUT YOU

An English, US, Russian or Commonwealth qualified lawyer with a minimum of 4PQE but the breadth of the role, title and salary may vary depending on relevant experience.

Fluent in Russian.

Experience of working within the financial sector particularly welcome, although candidates with other relevant in house or private practice experience will be considered.

The department is always very lively and busy so the candidate should be able to deal with competing demands.

The candidate will quickly build up their own internal clients and will be exposed to matters of strategic importance to the firm and the wider Group so discretion and confidentiality is essential.

Hands on attitude required with willingness to engage with differing levels, quality and value.

Experience at providing guidance to all levels of business important.

Ability to work both autonomously and with others in a small team.

Robust but engaging personality essential as this will be a visible role with very close interaction with other departments both in the front and back office.

Good academics required.

Lipson Lloyd Jones Ltd is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy. Please note our advertisements use PQE levels purely as a guide to the minimum level of experience required. However we are happy to consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary to fulfill this kind of work.
