£51,543 + Car Allowance

This exciting role offers you the chance to lead, motivate and direct the Litigation and Prosecution team, as well as be the Deputy Monitoring Officer for the Council and a member of the Legal Services Management team.

You will be responsible for providing a comprehensive legal service to the Council, its Executive, its Committees, Sub Committees and Directorates. This will also extend to some external customers such as schools and colleges. You will also be responsible for providing an operational and strategic vision, strong leadership and support, as well as maintaining the effective delivery of litigation, employment, procurement, education, housing and governance matters within Legal Services.

Furthermore, you will contribute to the overall management of the Division through the Legal Services Management team, including the achievement of its aims, objectives, statutory obligations and targets.

Requirements:

  • Fully enrolled Solicitor with an in date SRA Certificate
  • Substantial experience of Litigation and Advocacy before Courts and/or Tribunals
  • Demonstrable experience of managing professional staff (between 5 – 10 FTE)
  • Strong experience and knowledge of local government law and practice
  • Able to undertake advocacy in complex court and tribunal cases
  • Significant stakeholder and client management experience
