SENIOR LEGAL ADVISOR (£26,565 - £35,577)

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the in-house legal team at Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

You will be responsible for managing a large and busy caseload of clinical negligence claims and Coroner’s Inquests, to include conducting advocacy in the Coroner’s court. You will advise senior Trust staff on the full range of general health law issues that arise in a busy acute hospital.

You will also be responsible for the line management of a Paralegal.

You will hold a degree in law and a relevant postgraduate qualification (LPC or BPTC) or be a Qualified Legal Executive (FILEX) or equivalent. You will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience of managing a substantial caseload of legal claims including clinical negligence and personal injury claims and inquests, with minimal supervision.

The Trust is a recognised SRA training provider and training contracts have been offered to previous members of the team who have demonstrated exceptional skill and commitment to the role.

Experience of working in the NHS or with NHS clients and NHSR would be an advantage.

The role requires an individual who has the confidence and experience to communicate effectively with a wide range of health and legal professionals at senior level.

Further details available on NHS jobs, including full Job Description and Person Specification.

The closing date for applications is midnight 23rd November 2017. We will be holding an Assessment Centre on 29 November 2017 for shortlisted candidates prior to a Panel Interview on 4 December 2017 with a start date within a month after that.
