Applications are invited for the above position, based primarily at our University Park Campus. The Legal Services team provides legal advice, support and representation to and on behalf of the University.

The In-House Commercial Lawyer and Data Protection Officer will provide commercial legal services as part of the Legal Services team and will additionally be the in-house point of contact for information law enquiries and support. The role includes a high degree of autonomy and responsibility and the opportunity to work with key stakeholders to help to shape policy and the compliance programme in respect of Data Protection.

The role holder will be a practising Solicitor or Barrister with significant experience in information and commercial law. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to lead on GDPR legal compliance and to effectively fulfil the role of DPO for the University. Experience of drafting and advising on a wide range of contracts, including data sharing and transfer agreements and privacy impact assessments is essential. This role requires the ability to provide expert professional support to the University and its senior managers as well as working as an effective member of a team.

This is a full-time, permanent post, however job share arrangements may be considered.
