The Pastoral Team carries out the Commissioners’ statutory responsibilities for pastoral re-organisation, parsonages and glebe matters, and loans for clergy housing. There is close co-operation with the Closed Churches Division and liaison with the Legal Office, HR and Ministry Divisions (over clergy Terms of Service) and Property Investments (re clergy housing loans).
As Senior Case and Policy Advisor, you will assist with the delivery of the Commissioners’ statutory functions relating to parish re-organisation, parsonages and glebe.
In this varied role, you will work closely with Pastoral Committee members, National Church Institution staff particularly in the Closed Churches Division and Legal Office and also with HR/Ministry Division and Property Investments, Diocesan Staff, Archdeacons, Diocesan Mission and Pastoral Committee Secretaries and Diocesan Registrars.
You will be given day release and financial assistance to undertake and satisfactorily complete a post-graduate degree in ecclesiastical law.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have knowledge of pastoral re-organisation procedures. experience of applying Church legislation including that relating to property, knowledge of general property legislation and an understanding of the history and legal status of Church of England.
