The Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity.  We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and credible individual to take on a key senior leadership position with a broad reach across the Trusts activities.  Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services and leading the Legal team in providing appropriate and pragmatic advice on complex matters to support the Woodland Trust in its activities, the Head of Legal & Risk management will ensure the Trusts risks are appropriately covered, along with supporting the management of Governance matters.

The Head of Legal and Risk Management will contribute to the development and implementation of the Trust's strategies, policies and practices, supporting the success of the Trust and its objectives through developing relationships with Senior Leaders across the organisation.

This role will be considered on a part-time basis.

You'll be an effective leader with post qualified experience and knowledge of contracts, commercial agreement and partnership agreements. You'll be responsible for developing and managing the risk framework so you'll need a working knowledge of identifying and managing risk, alongside a good understanding of governance management and insurance.

Successful at developing productive relationships you'll be a strong communicator, able to work with a high degree of autonomy, acting with integrity, accountability and commitment. In addition you'll need to be able to influence at a senior level and work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders raising the profile and scope of Legal & Risk Management provision.

There's no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Whatever you do here you will be supporting our work to protect woods and trees. In return, we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with a generous contributory pension, life assurance and good holiday entitlement.

We operate Agile working where we empower our people with the flexibility to use the most appropriate working space available. This may be in an office at a desk with your team, breakout area, or occasional home working.
