A rare and attractive Legal Adviser job within a Government owned private limited company.

Your new company
This private limited company, wholly owned by the Energy-focused arm of the Government, is one of two businesses created to aid with the delivery of the government's Electricity Market Reform Programme, aiming to provide the UK with secure, affordable and sustainable electricity. The organisation is currently looking for a Legal Adviser to join on a 12 month maternity cover.

Your new role
You will be tasked with providing legal advice and assisting and informing the Head of Legal to support business activities and operations across both companies. You will be responsible for providing legal department representation as required, taking a lead role in legal disputes and managing external legal advisers. You will advise on 'Contract for Difference' contracts and 'Capacity Market' matters, two new scheme introduced to facilitate investment in the reform programme. You will also deal with contract management issues, regulatory matters, compliance and public procurement.

What you'll need to succeed
You should be a qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 6 years' PQE, preferably with experienced gained in an in-house function. You should have prior experience of complex contracts and/or major projects, more specifically long-term contractual arrangements. Experience liaising with the Head of Legal or high level stakeholders will be beneficial. Prior exposure to the utilities sector, particularly the electricity industry, construction or procurement is highly desirable, as is experience working with or in Government.
