Lawyer – Property and Contracts (Temporary up to 12 months)

Salary: Up to £36,379 p/a

Location: Basingstoke

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has ambitious plans for growth, facilitated by stable and substantial resources, allowing our people to act as the cornerstone in the delivery of high quality services to our residents. This means there’s an exciting future ahead laden with opportunities, and a unique and rewarding role for you in our Shared Legal Services Team.

Supporting the Property and Contracts Team Leader, you will provide high quality legal advice and services relating primarily to Property, Landlord and Tenant Law in an accurate and timely manner. The successful candidate will have a focus on high quality customer service, developing and maintaining effective client relationships, and supporting the negotiation of legal and commercial terms for property-related transactions and agreements, drafting relevant contracts, transfers, licences and leases.

You will be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with rounded and robust knowledge and experience of practice in property and contract law, ideally obtained working within a Local Authority environment. This must be matched by the ability to articulate such matters in plain English, whilst proactively working with, and commanding the respect of, clients and colleagues.

There’s also an excellent range of benefits including discounts at over 900 retailers, free parking, salary sacrifice scheme for lease cars, healthcare cash plan, childcare vouchers, pension scheme, generous leave entitlement and more.

The council signs up to the Disability Confident scheme (formerly known as the ‘Two Ticks’ scheme). If you have declared a disability on the application form we can guarantee you an interview if you meet the essential criteria for the job.

Closing date for applications: 4 March 2018.
