Legal Services Manager

Salary: Up to £61,361 per annum + one-off £5,000 relocation package

Providing strong and inspiring leadership for our legal service team, your challenge is to deliver high-level technical expertise across all governance issues, including embedding best practice throughout the organisation. Working closely with the Head of Law and Governance, your key priorities will be focused on advising members and officers on complex legal matters, acting as the key contact for external clients in the management of shared legal services, directly supporting the Monitoring Officer and developing service priorities.

For such an important role, you should be a qualified solicitor or barrister with a wealth of experience at senior management level in local government law. The proven ability to lead a high-performing team is also important, combined with a sound track record of advising members at committee and Full Council on complex legal, constitutional and management issues. Last but definitely not least, you’ve the credibility, resilience and vision to influence thinking and practice at all levels.
