Data Protection Officer and Legal Counsel

The Phone-paid Services Authority have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Protection Lawyer to join our dynamic organisation.  The role will primarily be responsible for ensuring that we fulfil our obligations and requirements under UK and EU data protection law, in particular the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and is suited to a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least 5 years PQE.   

The role sits at management level, with responsibility for regular reporting to the Audit Committee, and will support the Board and Executive in achieving and maintaining compliance with data protection law.  The successful candidate will be a confident communicator with high intellectual capability and effective project management experience. 

A real self-starter who possesses a strong emphasis on professionalism, quality and timeliness of support.  

In addition to being the organisational ‘expert’ on data protection matters, the role will also support the General Counsel and legal team in providing internal advice and support on our regulatory landscape and related matters which often involve European law and/or other jurisdictional issues, and supporting the Head of Enforcement in the management of investigations and enforcement casework. The role will also advise on general commercial matters provide ongoing legal support to other operational areas of the organisation and participate in new initiatives and projects as required.
