The Role
The exciting opportunity of Mental Health Solicitor/Panel Member has now arisen on a full-time basis in Ipswich. The successful candidate will be an Accredited Member of the Law Society’s Mental Health Panel and have experience in Legal Aid. Three years or more PQE is preferred however, there is flexibility for exceptional candidates with less experience. In addition, experience appearing before Mental Health Tribunals, handling Judicial Review and appeals to the Upper Tribunal is required. It would be advantageous for the candidate to have their own client following and essential to possess excellent client care skills. It will be necessary to have the ability to travel and attend clients externally within the East Anglian region, therefore, access to your own transport is essential. There may be a requirement to assist in other areas, such as Crime or Family, ability to do this would be beneficial although not essential.

The Candidate
You will be a qualified Solicitor with more than three years PQE (exceptional applicants with less experience will be considered).
Accredited Membership of the Law Society’s Mental Health Panel is necessary.
Your own client following would be advantageous.
Be must be willing to cover the East Anglian region with access to your own transport.
Good experience in appearing before Mental Health Tribunal.
Good experience with Judicial Review and appeals to the Upper Tribunal.
You are required to have an understanding and capability to work with the Legal Aid contract.
Ability to assist in areas such as Crime or Family is advantageous.
