Risk and Compliance Lawyer, 1+ PQE, Hertfordshire - Major regional law firm have an exciting opportunity for a Risk and Compliance Lawyer to become an integral part of their in-house legal team, working alongside experienced Risk and Compliance Lawyers. The firm offer a diverse range of legal services to both businesses and private individuals across five offices. JOB TITLE: Risk and Compliance Lawyer


LOCATION: Hertfordshire

SALARY: £Excellent

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITES: The purpose of this role is to have primary responsibility for the handling of complaints and claims for the business delegated from time to time in accordance with procedures. The role extends to the support of those handling complaints and to training to avoid complaints and claims. Commitment to identifying potential areas of difficulty and proactively analysing an approach to these. Provide guidance to the business and assist in the development of policies and procedures to ensure COLP and Lexcel compliance and to generally continually raise the standards of the legal service delivery. Undertake internal audits to assess the ongoing progress of the firms quality standards. Report any recommendation functions to the Risk and Compliance Committee. Assist the Money Laundering Reporting Officer in all aspects of the firm's approach to AML. Keep up to date with changes to the Professional Standards/Code of Conduct and adjust the firms policies to ensure compliance and promote a culture of compliance within the firm.

RISK AND COMPLIANCE LAWYER: You will require a comprehensive understanding of SRA regulations and guidelines and previous experience in a legal risk and compliance role. Demonstrate expert status and specialist knowledge and experience necessary to meet the requirements of the role and passionate and enthusiastic about this area of specialism. A proven ability to problem solve in a practical, timely and methodical way, particularly under pressure. The ability to collect and evaluate information, using the results to make important and effective decisions. Strong and persuasive communication both in writing and orally. Able to respond to demand working with your own initiative, under pressure. Experience of building effective relationships with business leaders and key managers and staff and external stakeholders e.g. SRA and Ombudsman.
