We are looking to appoint three lay and four legally qualified adjudicators to make regulatory decisions on behalf of the SRA. The role requires the chairing of adjudication panels and exercising decision-making powers relating to a wide range of work delegated to SRA adjudicators.

Applicants will have significant experience in an environment where judgment and high-level decision-making are required. You must show a keen sense of judgment with the ability to make quick, accurate and balanced decisions following a detailed analysis of complex information.

We are looking for 3 lay members and 4 legally qualified adjudicators. You will be either a solicitor, barrister, chartered legal executive or have the equivalent legal professional status, with an entitlement to practise. Evidence will be required of entitlement to practise. Lay members must not have any legal qualification.

The work will involve attendance at meetings at the SRA offices based in The Cube, 199 Wharfside Street, Birmingham and occasionally at its office in London. The commitment is around 6-12 days per year with additional attendance at training days around three times each year. The work will be remunerated at a rate of £250 for half a day and £400 for a full day for adjudication panel members and £400 for half a day and £700 for a full day for a chair. This fee includes reading and preparation time, travel, attending the panel meeting, drafting and checking the decision. Reasonable standard travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Contracts will commence on 1 November 2018 and will be for a period of either 3 or 4 years. Successful applicants must be available to attend induction training. Details are provided in the applicant information document (key dates are at the end of the document).
