The Organised Crime team within International Justice and Organised Crime Division deals with some of the most serious, high profile and challenging cases prosecuted by the CPS

We prosecute cases investigated by the National Crime Agency, as well as organised crime cases investigated by Immigration Enforcement, SO15 and other police forces which meet our complexity criteria. We routinely work across international boundaries and in collaboration with law enforcement partners at the highest levels, and we have a track record of convicting those organised crime groups causing most harm to the UK.

The specialist prosecutor role offers a unique opportunity to shape the strategy of an investigation from the outset both domestically and internationally, taking cases through to conclusion of the prosecution, as well as pursuing ancillary orders. Leading experienced teams of investigators from the National Crime Agency and other investigative agencies, you will tackle cases involving human trafficking, firearms supply, high-end money laundering, cyber-crime, serious child sexual exploitation and drug trafficking.

You will advise officers on the use of covert techniques, lines of enquiry, the production of evidence, and disclosure management. You will also have the opportunity to work with international partners to obtain evidence and negotiate jurisdiction, as well as across government working on strategic policy issues.
Additionally, our team in the North – based in Warrington and Wakefield – is responsible for prosecuting a series of cases arising from a large historic child sexual exploitation investigation and we have seeking a number of dedicated prosecutors with relevant experience to work on this case.

You will be a solicitor or barrister with significant experience of working in criminal law, either prosecuting or defending. You will have a proven track record of advising upon the admissibility of evidence, police powers and disclosure. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills. You will have the ability to draw together and analyse large volumes of evidence and other data from a variety of sources, in to build a strong prosecution case. You will be able to identify risks and potential challenges in a case and devise strategies with your case teams to mitigate them.

As the face of organised crime changes you will also have the ability to get to grips with new areas of law and investigatory powers quickly.

Please note, if your application is successful you must be prepared to be security cleared to the level of Developed Vetting. If appointed, you will be expected to contribute fully to the out of hours charging rota.

Please be aware that the post holder will also be expected to join the out of hours charging advice rota, following training in the team.
