About us

Bath Spa University is vibrant and ambitious, with a global outlook and a focus on creativity, culture and enterprise.  Set in beautiful surroundings close to the world heritage city of Bath, our strategy and plans call for a highly skilled and dedicated professional services team to support delivery of our academic goals.

The role

The University Secretary is a key member of the senior team, covering the provision of legal advice, governance and compliance.  Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working with the Board of Governors and staff across the University, you will enjoy a varied portfolio of work, with an emphasis on providing pragmatic advice and services commensurate with the level of risk involved.

You will be a qualified solicitor or barrister; be very organised but with a flexible approach to workload management; able to communicate effectively and appropriately at all levels within the organisation and externally; and have a genuine willingness to network to broaden your knowledge and influence.  Experience of working in, or with, the Higher Education sector is highly desirable but not essential.
