Job Details
An an exciting opportunity for experienced Insurance Lawyer to join the Casualty team in York is now available with a legal 500 rated firm.
You must have either legal experience or a law degree. The ideal candidate will of course have practical child law experience, however a legal degree without experience would be considered as a development opportunity.
A role within the firms Child Law Unit offers the opportunity to be involved with a varied caseload including both private and public work and domestic abuse cases, alongside working closely with experts, clients and other professionals on a daily basis. Duties will include liaising with clients, experts and other professionals at each stage of the case and preparing statements, applications and court bundles.
The post holder will also manage legal aid matters such as online applications and costings and provide assistance with care proceedings. Familiarity with the current legal aid eligibility rules is therefore an advantage.
Alongside providing administrative and case management support to fee earners within the unit the post holder will also work towards holding a discreet case load of their own files. Whilst training will be provided, candidates from a legal background will be at a strong advantage as will those will practice experience within a similar legal role.
A good working knowledge of Children Law along with the Children Act is also advantageous. Essential are excellent client management skills, the ability to deliver a high quality of service in all aspects of work and strong accuracy and attention to detail.
