Our client is a well-established law firm with offices in Leeds, Sheffield and York. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious lawyer to join the successful Ecclesiastical and Charities team working across all three offices to be based in any office.

They are looking for a lawyer with a highly professional approach who can act on behalf of a wide range of charity clients in relation to all aspects of charity work, including the formation and registration of new charities, advising on charity structures, incorporations, mergers, governance, constitutional amendments, trading and fundraising, dealing with the Charity Commission in relation to new charity registrations, advising social enterprises.

You will have excellent technical ability and a client/outcome focussed approach. You will be expected to manage your own caseload with assistance and support from other members of the team, although all levels of experience will be considered. You will also be expected to participate in marketing activities. Experience of charity work is an advantage, but applicants wishing to develop expertise in this sector will be considered.

Ideally the candidate will:

  • Display the ability to apply technical knowledge in a commercially astute way;
  • Be pro-active, driven, professional and flexible as well as being friendly and a good team player;
  • Have enthusiasm to participate in business development and networking opportunities.

Applicants should have the confidence to provide complex advice at a senior level, be self-motivated with excellent IT skills, and convince us that they will enjoy working both as part of an integrated team as well as autonomously when required. Overall they should be motivated, flexible, enthusiastic, and be keen to get the right result for the client.

The department is relaxed and informal, but extremely professional so it is essential that applicants need to have the ability to prioritise their workload as is the ability to work to and meet deadlines. An excellent eye for detail and a concern for quality and accuracy is essential.
