Property Solicitor

Our client, a leading Yorkshire law firm, has an opening for a solicitor to join them in its York office. The firm is predominately a commercial firm which has specialist private client capabilities too. They are highly regarded in the area and have an enviable client base consisting of many well-known national and international companies ranging from major PLCs to small private companies and charitable organisations.

The role is to support an experienced partner dealing with various planning, property development and construction matters. This is an unusual role with a lovely firm, the partner is really down to earth and easy to get on with, and who will help to develop your skills within this area of law.

The work on offer involves acting for developers, dealing with land acquisition and site set up, getting planning permissions, overage agreements and some construction too. All of the general commercial property work that comes through is all dealt with by a separate team. It's an usual role in that you are able to work on a variety of areas (planning, property and construction) that in bigger firms would be handled in separate departments.

The firm is looking for a junior lawyer and have indicated that candidates between NQ 2 years pqe will succeed in this role. However, this has been given as an approximate guide for applicants and our client is happy to consider the applications of candidates who fall outside of this PQE range but who have the relevant knowledge/experience.

Planning and/or construction experience would be highly beneficial but certainly not essential for the role as full training will be given. The firm is keen to hear from candidates with property experience that are looking for something a bit different.
