Assistant Legal & Risk Manager

  • Location: Cambridge, UK
  • Part time: 21 hours per week
  • Contract: Open ended
  • Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 pro rata per annum, dependent on skills and experience, plus 12% pension
  • Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata per annum in year 1, increasing by 1 day p.a. to a maximum of 28 days

We are looking for a part time Assistant Legal & Risk Manager to support the management of all contractual and legal matters relating to the organisation. This person will be based at our headquarters housed within the David Attenborough Building in Cambridge. 

Working with the Legal & Risk Manager, you will help ensure that the organisation meets contractual and compliance obligations across its international operations. You will support the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures and research and provide advice on a wider variety of legal and contractual matters. You will draft and review contracts with suppliers, donors and grantees and will highlight areas of risk posed by such contracts.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven track record of legal experience, either in-house or in a law firm
  • Familiarity with legal systems and frameworks
  • Sound basic financial literacy
  • A high level of oral and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge of contract law and excellent drafting skills
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of data protection and privacy
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Planning and project management skills
  • The right to work in the UK
