Contentious Construction Solicitor (1-3PQE)

The Construction and Engineering team is based in London and consists of 4 Partners and 9 other fee earners who work on a mix of contentious and non-contentious matters for both public sector clients and private sector clients who provide services to the public sector.

A vacancy has arisen in our London office for a 1-3 Year PQE Solicitor to work in the Construction and Engineering team which forms part of the firm's Commercial & Infrastructure department.

Previous experience in a construction and engineering team/department is a given for this role which will focus on contentious construction work; however, candidates with a mixed skill are also encouraged to apply as the team has a significant non-contentious practice as well and we are very open to growing the team in the most effective way possible.

The successful candidate will have the ability to manage their own time efficiently, possess excellent drafting and legal analysis skills, and have an ability to liaise effectively with clients. Most importantly we are looking for ambitious lawyers who want to take on challenging work in the development of their careers. You would be advising on development/regeneration schemes, energy and waste projects, social and economic infrastructure, construction and asset management, complex service outsourcing arrangements and professional negligence claims. We have a strong reputation in the local authority and health markets advising clients operating in housing, infrastructure, education, leisure, highways, waste management and renewable energy under traditional, partnering and PFI/PPP arrangements.

As you would expect we advise on all standard form and bespoke documentation and have extensive experience of advising on all of the PPP models (including PFI) and the development of outsourcing and other partnership forms of working. Our experienced team also advises clients on all their formal dispute resolution needs within the increasingly complex construction and engineering market. Whenever defects or claims occur, we will quickly provide a comprehensive, practical and cost effective response that could include negotiation, Alternative Dispute Resolution (including mediation), adjudication, arbitration or litigation.
