We have a rare opportunity for a solicitor with 0 - 4 years PQE to join Cumbria’s leading corporate team with a “thriving M&A practice” and “reputation for excellence”.  The successful candidate could work from either our Carlisle or Newcastle office, there is flexibility with this.

Our award winning Corporate department is looking to increase the strength of its team with the recruitment of a corporate lawyer to assist with its busy workload and strategic expansion.

Main duties

You will be involved in a broad range of Corporate work, but principally M&A transactions, reorganisations, joint venture and shareholders’ agreements, advice on corporate governance, partnership matters, and general commercial advice.

You will have early exposure to market leading transactions working with our high quality client base.  You will be expected to run your own caseload and will be supervised as necessary, in accordance with your level of PQE.

An enthusiasm for business development is important for this role, and you will be encouraged to build up a network of clients and intermediaries.

Key skills and experience

Background as a corporate/commercial lawyer.

M&A and corporate experience, with the ability to advise on commercial contracts as required.

You will be client facing, with excellent practical and technical legal ability.

This is a full time role (37.5 hours a week) and in return we offer the opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking firm with a great working environment, a competitive salary and additional benefits.

If this is the right role for you and you are ready to join our team, please send a copy of your CV with a covering letter to Kate Sowerby (HR Officer) at yourfuture@burnetts.co.uk
