THE ROLE

The company is looking to strengthen its commercial legal team with the addition of a Legal and Commercial Counsel to work under the supervision of the Legal Director and Company Secretary and MD.

This will be a challenging and rewarding role which will present the opportunity to develop your legal and commercial skills and gain in-depth knowledge of the structural engineering and construction profession.

The role will be extremely varied and will appeal to candidates who can work well as part of a small friendly team and operate across the wider business amongst members of Senior Management with an ability to think and advise commercially.

Able to adapt and offer flexibility to the needs of the business, you will have a great appetite for driving projects and working in a creative, high energy environment and value working with people who are the best at what they do.

The successful candidate will be involved & advising throughout the contractual life cycle of the company's projects: bid submissions, tender processes, contract negotiation, contract execution and the appointment of sub-consultants.

Projects will typically vary from very significant private & public-sector projects both in the UK & overseas to smaller architectural projects and this variety is also reflected in the terms and types of appointment received.

There is also scope for involvement in a huge variety of areas which will include support to the business across Commercial, Company Secretarial, Governance, Compliance, M&A activity, Property, elements of Finance and other duties critical to the business.

ABOUT YOU

Although the company is always willing to consider a wide range of candidates for its roles, you should have the skills and experience to handle:

Drafting and negotiating Construction, Engineering and Infrastructure contracts, consultant appointments which includes industry standards such as ACE, NEC3 and FIDIC, sub-consultant appointments, and other construction documentation.

Advising on general commercial contracts across the business.

Providing legal and professional support on a range of legal matters when required and assisting the Legal Director & Company Secretary in managing outside counsel and third-party suppliers.

Involvement in supporting the construct and oversight of a legal risk management Program, inclusive of the construct and oversight of an Anti-bribery and client due diligence Program.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a lawyer with 3-6pqe, who can demonstrate the ability to work well within a collegial team.
