Our clients Commercial IT team in Central Cardiff provides specialist non-contentious legal advice to new and existing clients in relation to ICT (Information and Communications Technology), IP and commercial law matters (ie projects, procurements, outsourcing and licensing arrangements).
•Supporting a team advising, drafting and negotiating on behalf of clients in relation to commercial / ICT and IP focussed contracts or high value, high profile and complex projects. This involves either providing specialist advice on often complex issues within the transaction / contract / project or solving problems across the legal / commercial divide. •Providing support with marketing and business development activities - working with others in the Commercial team / across the firm as well as contributing to joint marketing campaigns.
•Project management – working within a project structure, taking responsibility for actions to completion within timescales, planning own work, organising and prioritising own tasks: a) between different matters; and b) within specific matters, in order to meet deadlines (often with competing timelines), deliver timely support to colleagues / advice to clients (allowing for time to undertake a quality assurance check and / or liaison with the matter partner as necessary), maintaining communication on progress and managing expectations, asking questions for clarification
Skills & Experience:
•2+pqe with an IT interest and data protection experience •Law Society member •Networking experience, credible with clients •Client service focussed •Strong time management and organisational skills
•Continues to keep up to date with latest developments in ICT/IP/Commercial law and market practice •To develop greater expertise in order to advise on steadily more complex transactions and use appropriate resources available to effectively manage the task •Take advantage of cross selling opportunities across the firm and co-ordinate and participate in joint marketing campaigns across England and Wales for ICT/IP and other TIGS eg Health •To identify and suggest ways to increase profitability on types of work undertaken by means of identifying and exploiting: a) trends in market sectors or leverage in the market place; and b) greater efficiency and effective in the processes involving the types of work undertaken •To deliver sufficient levels of returns re: target clients to actual clients and fee generation and, in due course, to demonstrate a solid business case to justify developing and leading a dedicated ICT/IP team in Wales; ensuring an appropriate level of expertise and skill base in the team so as to effectively distribute, delegate and manage work at the most approached level of experience to provide the best levels of margin.
