Commercial Lawyer – Pharmaceuticals

Role: Full-time, permanent

Location: Harrow, London

Salary: £75k – £85k + bonus + benefits

The Role:

Due to continued company growth, we’re seeking a meticulous and customer-focussed Commercial Lawyer to join our supportive international team to help provide accurate, efficient and timely legal support to all our business departments across the European region. In this diverse and fast-paced role, no two days will be the same and you’ll gain a deep understanding of how our organisation functions (from Manufacturing to Mergers) through cross-functional working and supporting a range of on-going projects. On a day-to-day basis, you will prepare and negotiate a range of agreements for the business (including CDAs, letters of intent, distribution agreements, license and supply agreements and contract manufacturing agreements) and providing legal advice to our Commercial teams regarding disputes with our clients or suppliers. To support your work and the smooth running of the department, you’ll follow our company policies and procedures to prepare and update template and ad hoc agreements and letters for internal sign-off, manage the corporate legal documentation of our European subsidiaries and update our internal legal databases to maintain a current picture of projects and information. Taking ownership of your own workload and projects, you’ll work efficiently, accurately and consistently to produce a high quality of work to deadlines and maintain proactive communication with relevant stakeholders to keep them informed of progress. This is a role which you can really make your own, in supportive and friendly team within a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation. There will also be opportunities for European travel in this role.

The Person:

With previous experience in a similar Commercial Lawyer role (either in-house or in practice at Associate-level or above), you’ll have experience of supporting multi-national clients or departments, the ability to draft watertight legal documents and a familiarity with using legal databases. Ideally you’ll have some experience of working with the pharmaceutical / healthcare sector, with an understanding of the different functions (e.g. Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain), but experience in another regulated manufacturing environment and a keenness to learn would also be welcomed. Experience of working on Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) would also be beneficial. With strong communication and interpersonal skills (in written and spoken English), you’re confident liaising at all levels of authority and can navigate cultural differences with ease. You also have the rare skill of being able to communicate complex technical information in an appropriate format for a range of audiences. As a person, you’re professional, friendly and approachable, happy working autonomously or as part of a team. You’re well organised with good prioritisation skills and a high attention to detail; you’re able to manage your own work to meet deadlines, even in a fast-paced and changeable work environment. You’ll have good IT skills across the Microsoft Office suite (including intermediate level Word and Excel) along with the flexibility to travel across Europe, where needed. A Law degree is essential for this role, whilst an LLM qualification would be desirable.

The Rewards:

In return, we offer a competitive salary and rewards package (including holiday, bonus and pension scheme). Not to mention the opportunity to genuinely make a difference in a new and dynamic role within a progressive and expanding business, at an exciting time of growing international reach.
