Job Details

Greater Manchester Police is one of the UK's largest police forces and is responsible for keeping people safe across more than 1,200 sq km. The Force covers the Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan areas.

GMP’s officers and staff work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to keep almost three million people safe and provide the best possible service to people who visit Greater Manchester, live and work here.

The posts are based at Force Headquarters.

We are looking for two solicitors to join our operational policing team. You will effectively and proactively manage your own mixed caseload including applications for civil orders before the Magistrates Court in relation to the Sexual Offences Act 2003, Domestic Violence Protection Orders and similar applications. You will also appear before the family court and other courts and tribunals as required in relation to disclosure matters, firearms licensing, liquor licensing and Judicial Review. You will be responsible for providing advice to support front line policing and will carry out investigations and research, communicating effectively with your peers, officers of all ranks and third parties. You will also deal with confidential and sensitive information and participate in a weekend on-call rota for Court attendance.

If you are hard-working, motivated and adaptable, want to work as part of a friendly and supportive team and can demonstrate the attributes and behaviours that GMP expects of all its police staff and officers, we will welcome your application.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo security vetting and training.

GMP is an Equal Opportunities employer.

GMP operates an Agile Working Policy promoting a work life balance.
