Legal Counsel Job In-house Energy Commercial Contracts

Your new company
Our client is one of the 'Big Six' Energy suppliers - part of the Business Solutions Group, our client offers energy to some of the largest industrial and corporate consumers in the UK. The team provide a full legal advice service to business consumers which will include a range of matters within commercial contracts, procurement and contentious areas.

Your new role
You will be joining an experienced and committed legal team who manage a wide range of legal work. The team provide all legal services to business consumers and therefore your day to day work will likely encompass a range of tasks from negotiating a supply purchase through to handling sensitive litigious matters and managing procurement matters. This position is offered on an initial 12 month fixed term contract due to the secondment of a current member elsewhere - with a business this size and an ever changing environment, there is the potential for this position to be extended or become permanent. This is an important hire for the team and therefore you will be a versatile and diverse commercial lawyer with a genuine interest in the business.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified solicitor with relevant experience in Commercial law. You will have experience gained from a well-regarded Commercial team and ideally have been exposed to the energy sector. Each applicant will be reviewed on their individual merits and therefore the energy experience is not essential. You will have excellent negotiation skills, have a strong commercial approach with the ability to prioritise workload and manage your day effectively. You will be able to show your commitment to the in-house sector.
