Personal Injury Associate (Multi track) – Bristol

An opportunity has arisen for a Personal Injury Associate to join one of the biggest claimant teams in the region. The successful personal injury solicitor will be required to manage a case load whilst overseeing & managing a team of staff.

The range of work covered in the department is varied and divided across four dedicated teams – Motor Portal, Fast-Track Litigation, Non-Motor and Multi-Track Unit.

Working closely with the Head of Personal Injury and Principal Associates, you will support with supervision and management of the Multi Track team, as well as to handle your own caseload of multi-track claims, including high value and catastrophic injury claims.

As the Senior Associate you will:

  • Have line management responsibility for the performance and management of a team of six;
  • supervise the case handling of the team and proactively manage the team to deliver the financial, customer and operational targets set by the Head of Personal Injury;
  • demonstrate technical expertise in the field of multi-track case handling, with an expectation that expertise will include cases such as (but not limited to) spinal cord injury, amputation claims and brain injury cases;
  • deal with complaints which arise in the team, provide support for other teams where necessary and act as a referral point for more complex queries;
  • be responsible for file closure decisions within the multi-track team and to ensure that team members are closing files in a timely and appropriate manner;
  • assist and consult in respect of change management in relation to multi-track case handling, improvements in cost recovery and to improving levels of efficiency, productivity and profitability;
  • input in relationships and tenders with suppliers in relation to medical agencies and counsel; consulting and advising on those relationships in relation to multi-track work; and
  • ensure that regulatory requirements are met and adhered to at all times, liaising at all times with the company’s COLP and compliance function

The ideal candidate will be able to show:

  • Strong legal and technical ability demonstrated in relation to case handling, the CPR, costs, causation, liability, medical evidence and special damages, including the development of bespoke case plans to run cases depending on the nature of the injury;
  • excellent IT skills and knowledge of case management systems/processes;
  • a proven track record of managing people;
  • experience in training and development of staff to deliver high performance.
