Solicitor
North Wales – based in Wrexham, Rhyl or Felinheli
Salary - £28,000 - £31,000 per annum (dependent upon experience)
Full time position – 35 hours per week
We are looking for an enthusiastic full time Solicitor to deliver a specialist legal casework service in housing law & to represent homeless people or people in housing need in North Wales.
- Suitable candidates need to be a qualified Solicitor and if not already experienced in Housing Law must be willing to develop the skills and knowledge to conduct housing casework.
- There is an emphasis on achieving successful outcomes for our clients; there is a variety of Legal work carried out under Legal Aid Agency (LAA) contracts including certificated, legal help and court duty.
- You will maintain an active caseload (including litigation), which enables homeless people or those with housing problems to enforce their existing rights.
- The position will involve close working with colleagues, courts, a range of local authorities & Housing Associations and other local agencies.
- You will provide support to Shelter Cymru’s housing advice services by answering queries on housing law, the legal process, tactics and other relevant areas of law
- You will have excellent drafting, communication and analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
- You will assist with advising Shelter Cymru’s policy and campaigns team on relevant legal changes and their implications, as well as delivering training / briefings on aspects of housing law.
