Lawyer (Children’s Mental Health)

£40,608 inc. London Weighting

Based in Stratford, London

We’re Mind, the mental health charity. We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. We provide advice and support to empower anybody experiencing a mental health problem and we campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to help Mind in its legal work and to expand its work to children and young people.

You will be helping to scope and implement the expansion of our campaigning work and our information offer. As well as assisting with interventions in test case litigation, you will be involved in overseeing Mind’s legal helpline service, preparing written materials and providing training on mental health law, mental capacity, community care, discrimination, human rights and judicial review, and contributing to Mind’s policy and campaigns work.

You must be a qualified solicitor or barrister entitled to hold a practicing certificate. You must have experience and knowledge of the law surrounding children with mental health problems, in particular social care provision and education.

In addition, we want to hear from candidates who have some experience in our other areas of work as you will be required to pick these up.

Closing date: 5pm on 7 May 2018.

Interview date: w/c 14 May 2018.
