WILMSLOW
£35,000 - £40,000 PLUS 25 DAY + 8 HOLIDAYS AND PENSION

The company I am working with is a medico-legal practice run by a fantastic Consultant Oncologist. Working throughout the life-cycle of clinical negligence cases, they produce medico-legal reports and updated opinions, attend conferences and trials.

The role is part of the team assisting the Professor, providing high level legal and administrative support. The aim of the team is to perform all of the work around the medical opinion that the Professor provides.
This role involves both assessing and undertaking all aspects of work within the life-cycle of a case - from pre-case enquiries and preparation of new reports, through ongoing case work and conferences to file closures. There will be daily contact with clients (solicitors and agencies) as well as maintenance of our CRM and systems. This role requires the ability to work independently to a high standard, including undertaking complex legal analysis - using initiative. There will be some supervision responsibilities over junior staff and it will involve deputising for the Business Manager when necessary.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES;
Full analysis and preparation for new cases, including starting reports and letters from templates, extracting relevant documents from medical records and dealing with any issues that arise.
To perform detailed work requested in follow up tasks - to do as much of this as possible before passing to the Professor, then liaising with her until the task is completed.

Tasks will include:
* Complex analysis of follow up requests, drafting response letters and report updates.
* Reviewing legal proceedings and providing detailed analysis and comments for the Professor.
* Checking reports / follow up opinions for consistency, legal and general accuracy and sending out work to clients.

Assessing incoming work and breaking down of tasks before undertaking them personally or delegating them to junior staff.
Assisting with the organisation of patient appointments and other conferences
Performing second stage complex conference preparation, ensuring that the Professor has all the necessary information to participate in a conference.
Sitting in on teleconferences, taking notes and supporting the Professor.
Assisting with post conference work - drafting resulting follow up work and post conference administration.
Arranging joint expert meetings - liaising with solicitors and other experts to agree a date and ensure the agenda is available in time.

Weekly Preparation and administration for joint expert meetings, drafting the joint statement prior to the meeting - researching what the contentious issues are likely to be by analysing existing expert reports.
Sitting in on Joint Expert Meeting, taking notes and supporting the Professor.
Assisting the Professor to produce the Joint Statement and with the post meeting administration.
To ensure that the diary is monitored for trials. To liaise with solicitors regularly so that they know as soon as possible if the trial is going ahead or not. To deal with cancellations as they arise.
Preparation and administration for trials in conjunction with the Professor.
To deputise for the Business Manager, Senior Legal Administrators or other legal staff when necessary. General
Supervision of and work allocation to junior members of staff. Monitoring their work and providing constructive feedback as part of an ongoing training programme.
