Children's Safeguarding Lawyer - Team Leader

We are looking for a Team Leader for Children’s Safeguarding  to join our busy forward thinking team to provide high quality legal services to officers across Thurrock to enable them to meet their objectives. You need to be committed to delivering a client focused service that adds value, ensuring a consistent approach to service delivery and delivering best value. The shared Legal Services is actively involved in shaping and developing the delivery of its service across both authorities and are committed to increasing resilience. This is an exciting opportunity for a hard-working and committed team player.

The successful candidate, whilst demonstrating a working knowledge of local government law, will have the ability to manage a team of children’s safeguarding lawyers as well as holding their own caseload and providing high quality advice for internal clients. At times the successful candidate will be expected to deputise for the Deputy Head of Legal. You will have a detailed knowledge of the law relating to children and families and be able to develop existing advocacy skills to represent the council in complex contest the proceedings. The successful candidate will be able to evidence personal commitment to continuous self-development and service improvement.

You will be qualified solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive with advocacy certificate, able and committed to work in a flexible manner including outside normal office hours, when the role necessitates the same. You will be a key member of the group confident and able to work independently on your own initiative.
