Job Details

What's in it for you

* You will be at the forefront of SRA engagement with the largest law firms in England and Wales.
* You will enjoy a varied and challenging role, building strong and constructive relationships with a range of firms, including City, international, large national law firms, alternative business structures and multi-disciplinary practices.
* You will test and challenge risk and compliance issues across firms, liaise with firms as to how our programme of regulatory reform impacts them and contribute that knowledge to the various activities of the SRA.

The role

As part of the Regulatory Management team, you will be responsible for proactive engagement with some of the largest law firms in England and Wales, many of which are based in the City of London. This is a pivotal role in helping us to not only give the public confidence in some of the most high profile law firms and multi-disciplinary practices - which will in turn, safeguard the reputation of the profession - but also to challenge those firms to ensure that they work to the highest ethical and professional standards.

As part of a dedicated team you will be responsible for building relationships with your own portfolio of firms. You will engage constructively with key individuals at those firms to understand the nature of their services and clients, what risks exist or are emerging and how they are being managed.

Bringing strong commercial awareness and understanding of the legal profession and how firms operate, you will collate, analyse and understand complex information and use your judgment to make the right regulatory decisions.

You will need to have strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to challenge and influence key stakeholders at every level. We are also looking for strong analytical skills with the ability to work alone or as part of a team, and the excellent communication skills it takes to explain complex issues succinctly.

What we are looking for

* A good awareness and understanding of the legal profession
* Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders
* A flexible approach and ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances
* Good organisational and planning skills to ensure effective and regular planned engagement with firms

Please ensure that your CV and covering letter clearly demonstrate how you meet the knowledge, skills and experience requirements of the role.
