About Croydon

Croydon is expanding fast, not since the 1960s has the borough seen the pace of change and growth that is now being experienced. With £5bn of investment to be completed over the next few years we are orchestrating a new Westfield Shopping Centre, a new cultural hub, major transport infrastructure; including new rail and tram investment, new offices and commercial space and thousands of new homes. Planners are central to delivering our regeneration by facilitating new well-paid jobs and high-quality accommodation for our rapidly growing population.

Croydon is a naturally ambitious and innovative council, with initiatives such as the Growth Zone; a business rate retention funding model, our world class Place Review Panel, a trail blazing Suburban Intensification SPD as well as leading in Development Management best practice through our ‘New Ways of Working’ – so we’re looking for inspirational leaders who share our passion for saying yes to high quality sustainable development that supports business growth and responds to local needs.

Strong partnerships are the foundation for the future. That’s why we need people with excellent communication skills, a desire to find solutions and the ability to work in teams without hierarchy. We constantly seek creative new ways of working together with other agencies and the private sector to deal with the financial challenges ahead and bring investment to Croydon.

If you like the sound of a role where ambition and potential is nurtured, Croydon is the place. Opportunities like this only come along once in a generation and our task, and maybe yours, is to shape a positive future for our borough’s residents and businesses alike.
