Our Social Service Legal Team are looking for two suitably qualified solicitors to assist in delivering a comprehensive legal service to Luton  Council, its executive, committees, sub-committees and departments.

Your role will be to provide legal advice and be responsible for a legal caseload. This will be in relation to child care and related matters.

These roles are career progressions from M3-M5.

About you

We are looking for someone who has experience of advocacy before Courts or Tribunals in relation to child care cases.

You’ll need to be able to perform legal work with limited supervision, be computer literate, be persuasive and analytical and be able to plan and prioritise your own caseload.

Our ideal candidate will need to be able to make decisions and have good oral and written communication skills.

You’ll need to be a great team player and be able to work well in a team. You will have the opportunity to develop your existing knowledge of English Law, Childcare Law and Law of Evidence.

We do ask that you are qualified as a Solicitor or a Barrister in England. If you are qualified as a solicitor we ask that you hold or are able to obtain a current practising certificate. If you are qualified as a barrister we ask that you have or be able to obtain rights of audience under paragraphs 402.1 and 402.2 of the Code of Conduct for Barristers in England and Wales.

This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English.
