 (Salary MG2 - £53,835 to £59,937)

We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic senior lawyers who are committed to do the best in supporting clients and developing others and are able to assist in leading our established Criminal Litigation team.

This is an exceptional opportunity for you to play a key role in undertaking varied, high quality work with like minded and supportive colleagues who are dedicated to public service and making a difference in local communities.

About the position

The successful candidate will be expected to assist with leadership and management and support both the clients and develop the staff.  They will personally undertake matters of a more complex nature and duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Receiving and allocating instructions
  • Active supervision of staff to include appraisals, one to one’s and general mentoring
  • Advising senior officers and elected members at committee in a proactive and politically sensitive manner;
  • Acting as the senior liaison point for the practice’s clients; and
  • Supporting the strategic development of HB Public Law jointly with the other Team Leaders and Principal Lawyers.

The role will be based primarily in our Harrow office, which offers excellent transport links.  The post holder will serve multiple local authority clients and there will be travel required to other clients’ offices, including occasional evening committee attendance and to courts in each instructing area.

About you

The successful candidate will not only have extensive previous criminal litigation experience but will also be passionate about teamwork and developing others.  A high level of client contact will be involved in this role and therefore it is essential that you exhibit good client care skills and can build strong working relationships with others.
