Planning & Regeneration Lawyer/Senior Lawyer – G10/G11/MG1 (£36,555 to £51,111)

Would you like to undertake varied, high quality work with like minded and supportive colleagues who are committed to public service and making a difference in local communities?

We are recruiting to permanent planning & regeneration lawyer positions at HB Public Law, one of the country’s leading local authority legal practices, which has offices in Harrow and Aylesbury.

We are a Lexcel and IIP Gold accredited practice and pride ourselves on delivering a high quality service to six local authorities, schools and other public bodies in London and the South East.

About the position

The successful candidate will be expected to carry a varied and extensive caseload of both day to day planning matters and matters of a more complex nature. Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

•           Negotiating and drafting planning and highways agreements

•           Supporting and advising at planning committees

•           Advising on planning, highways and compulsory purchase matters

•           Advising on regeneration projects

You will be required to pick up a caseload from the outset and should have relevant experience in planning law. We will consider less experienced individuals with the right personal qualities and an excellent approach to client care who are able to grow into the role. Candidates from both the public and private sector are encouraged to apply for this position, as the practice’s current staff base is drawn from both sectors.

The role will be based primarily in our Harrow office, which offers excellent transport links. The post holder will serve multiple local authority clients and there will be some travel required to clients’ offices, including occasional evening committee attendance.

About you

The successful candidate will not only have previous planning law experience but will also be a team player who takes pride in delivering a high quality service and is able to work under pressure. It is important that candidates are committed to this area of law and have a genuine enthusiasm for their work.

Applications

The deadline for all applications is Monday 9th July 2018 and these should be made via the Harrow Council website http://www.harrow.gov.uk/homepage/175/external_careers_site

The role is a career graded post encompassing grades G10, G11 and MG1 (£36,555 to £51,111pa).  Successful candidates who meet the threshold criteria for the relevant grade, as set out in the role profile, will generally be placed at the entry point for that grade (G10 - £36,555; G11 – £41,430 and MG1 - £44,676).  There is an annual career grading application process to allow lawyers to advance to the next grade.

If you would like a confidential conversation about the opportunity please call our team leader Katherine Hamilton on 020 8424 1890
