Job Details
Clerk to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal and Chief Executive Officer, Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Administration Ltd
Attractive package London
The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal plays a vital role in protecting the public, including consumers of legal services, and maintaining public confidence in the reputation of the solicitors' profession for honesty, probity, trustworthiness, independence and integrity. Wholly independent of the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Tribunal adjudicates upon alleged breaches of the rules and regulations applicable to solicitors and their firms, and registered foreign lawyers. It also decides applications by former solicitors for restoration to the Roll and by indefinitely suspended solicitors for determination of suspension.
This is a critical and high-profile leadership position and the Clerk/CEO will play a significant role in ensuring delivery of the strategic direction of the SDT and of its statutory responsibilities. You will provide decisive leadership and vision to Tribunal Members and staff, ensuring that the organisation operates effectively and efficiently, demonstrating consistent modern best practice and value for money. Upholding the SDTs core values of independence impartiality and transparency, you will facilitate the quality of decision-making by tribunals, through robust quality assurance mechanisms and supporting the development of Tribunal Members. As an advocate for the SDT, you will develop and maintain effective relationships with all the SDT’s key interest groups.
As a qualified solicitor or barrister of at least 10 years’ standing, you will have proven experience as a senior leader and a track record of having led an effective and relevant caseload or similar operation. An inspiring leader, with outstanding commercial skills, you will drive a culture of collaboration and high performance, where a valued workforce is motivated to deliver exceptional services. Politically astute, with outstanding communication skills and powerful credentials in motivating teams, you will be able to inspire confidence with Tribunal Members, staff, the profession and the SDT’s many and varied stakeholders. With the demonstrable ability to drive change and maintain operational effectiveness, you will undertake your duties with independence and integrity.
