Reporting to the College Secretary, the General Counsel will have responsibility for leading the provision of effective legal advice and support across the College’s activities. The role holder will attend Council meetings and provide support where necessary to help ensure that the College’s legal and regulatory obligations are met. It is expected that the post holder will be proactive in advising on legal risk and new developments in relation to legal and regulatory compliance. In addition, the post holder will act as the primary interface to external legal advisers, with responsibility for establishing, directing and monitoring arrangements for commissioning external legal support.

The successful candidate will provide expert advice, practical solutions and have the opportunity to review and shape the legal services provision for King’s. Supporting both the College Council and Senior Management Team we are looking for someone who is flexible, responsive and forward-looking to support the growth and development of King’s, and to meet the needs of the ever-changing external landscape. The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor or barrister eligible to practise in England & Wales, together with an extensive track record as a senior lawyer with relevant experience.
