Job Details

LAW Absolute is currently working with a law firm based in the West End of London who are seeking to recruit an IT Systems Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Owner and establishment of the following ITIL 2011 processes:

Architecture, Application Development, Release & Deployment, Service Validation & Testing, Application Management, Technical Management

  • Setting and monitoring architecture, development and quality standards
  • Responsible for the management of the Application Team, Development Team and Testing, enabling the transformation from business analysis to delivered solutions
  • Responsible for the standard Desktop, Active Directory, Office 365, Document Management, Practice Management and all other applications
  • Maintains software and technology currency, including monitoring the market to gain knowledge and understanding of currently emerging technologies. Identifies new and emerging hardware and software technologies and products based on own area of expertise, assesses their relevance and potential value to the organisation, contributes to briefings of staff and management.
  • Controls system design practice and architecture. Develops effective implementation and procurement strategies, consistent with firm needs. Ensures adherence to relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security).
  • Works closely with internal and third party teams to ensure actions are taken and completed to protect and improve services
  • Recognises potential strategic application of information technology capabilities. Initiates and manages investigation and development of innovative methods, practices and technology, to the benefit of the firm. Plays an active and dynamic role in improving the interface between all interested parties, facilitating knowledge flow to enable sharing and development of creative ideas
  • Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for applications support. Manages application enhancements to improve firm performance. Advises on application security, licensing, upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery needs. Ensures that all requests for support are dealt with according to set standards and procedures
  • Provides regular and accurate management reporting on application status
  • Develops plans to ensure that the organisation has appropriately skilled resources to meet organisational objectives and commitments. Manages the effective implementation of resource planning, recruitment, selection, assessment, on-boarding and transitioning of resources
  • Allocates management and supervisory responsibilities. Provides coaching and support and delegates responsibilities where possible. Mentors and influences individuals in consideration of their career opportunities and contribution to the organisation. Sets performance objectives, and monitors progress against agreed quality and performance criteria. Initiates, develops and monitors effective performance management processes

The Person:

  • Proven experience in full application lifecycle management
  • Understanding of ITIL service management techniques and methods
  • Outstanding leadership and management skills
  • Experience in working in a multi-site environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical staff
  • Good interpersonal skills, working closely with people at all levels in the firm
  • Ability to think and work independently, also as part of a team and to take responsibility
  • Be adaptable to changing requirements and technologies
  • A high standard of written and oral communication with attention to detail
  • Positive and robust attitude with a high level of personal motivation
  • Flexible approach to working
  • Proven track record of implementation and maintenance of legal IT systems at a high standard
  • ITIL Foundation essential
  • Knowledge of professional services and partnership environments required
  • ASL2, BiSL advantageous
  • COBIT, DevOps, Prince II, Lean Six Sigma, SIAM desirable
  • Experience of mobile application development, Office 365, SharePoint advantageous
