I am currently recruiting for a boutique, claimant focused litigation firm based in Central London. Due to continued growth the firm are now looking for a Litigation Legal Executive to join their expert team on a permanent full-time basis.  The firm has an established practice with regards Japanese knotweed and the various legal issues which arise from it.  These cases include:
  • cases of private nuisance where Japanese knotweed has encroached from one property onto another or the presence of Japanese knotweed on neighbouring land is causing problems for a property owner;
  • cases of misrepresentation where, during the purchase of a property, the vendor did not disclose the existence of Japanese knotweed; and
  • cases of professional negligence where, during the purchase of a property, a surveyor failed to spot the existence of Japanese knotweed.
They do not expect candidates to have specific knowledge relating to Japanese knotweed and the law but they do expect candidates to be willing to learn and be interested in being involved in a new and rapidly developing area of the law.

They are looking for someone who can run cases from beginning to end with minimal supervision. This will involve:
  • Drafting including:
    • Letters of Claim
    • Particulars of Claim
    • Court Forms
    • Correspondence with clients and defendants
    • Management of litigation including:
      • Ensuring court deadlines are complied with
      • Preparing disclosure and trial bundles
      • Instructing and liaising with counsel
      • Preparing costs budgets, draft orders and case summaries

Skills and Experience:
  • 3 years’ experience as a CILEx qualified legal executive
  • Good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Eexcellent drafting skills
  • Motivated and capable of working independently
